The ultimate mission of the Warrior Spirit band is to empower wounded warriors through music. Our Mission As musicians we have the ability to share our love of music with others and present our story through lyrics and sound. . The Warrior Spirit band has the potential to do so much for our men and women of the armed forces that have sacrificed their ability to lead a normal life after being wounded or disabled in a combat zone. Warrior Spirit will help bring selected veterans outreach programs to the spotlight and will raise awareness of the struggles that our service men and women go through upon returning home and reacclimating to a normal life. According to recent VA estimates, approximately 6,400 veterans take their own lives each year. A growing number of these veterans are those that served in either Iraq or Afghanistan. The Warrior Spirit band wants to help reduce those numbers by using music as a positive tool for veteran transition and support. Studies have also shown that music can have a positive effect on various mental conditions, including PTSD. Having a disability and struggling through life knowing you will never do some of the things you used to can really be hard on the soul. We hope to aid in the healing process and to bring awareness of veterans issues to the public and beyond, Knowing that the band is comprised completely of disabled or combat wounded veterans sends a message to others that it’s not the disability that stops you, it’s the ability to want to push forward and accomplish what others thought impossible. We want to help veterans and civilians move forward and never give up. That very Warrior Spirit is what we strive to show in our music and throughout our personal stories. My Story As a former infantry paratrooper and a musician I know firsthand how hard it is to be told you will never do the job you love or play an instrument again. In May 2009, after 15 years in the Army, I was told that I would never be able to play drums again due to an injuries sustained as a paratrooper and in an IED blast. These injuries make my hands and right leg go numb and my neck and back stiff with recurring pain. As a result of the explosion I also have a traumatic brain injury that causes memory loss and migraines to list a few, but I have pushed on and proved that giving up was not an option. My influence? The Warrior attitude and spirit instilled in me during my time in the military. This undying Warrior Spirit shows everyone that no matter what obstacle we face we can conquer. TALENT SEARCH The Strategy As we try to find the next members of this very unique band, we invite you to join us and experience the power of healing through music. Our mission when going on the road is the following:  share our stories about overcoming our disabilities through music;  spend time with soldiers at the hospitals and Warrior Transition Units around the services with those that have just began their journey;  show the nation what our wounded warriors are capable of by showcasing their talents;  deliver comfort items and instruments to jump start the healing process; and As wounded warriors ourselves, the members of Warrior Spirit can understand and communicate with those that need help the most. The road to recovery starts the very moment a soldier is injured. Warrior Spirit wants to walk that road beside those that have given so much for our country and our freedom.
