Let me take a minute to introduce Rod Richmond. Rod is the epitome of the American Country Boy. He grew up on a farm, hunting, fishing, and running the back roads of a very small town in Northern New York. He graduated (in a class of thirteen) and went in the army when he was seventeen. While in the army, Rod regularly packed up an army buddy or two and traveled all over the country just to see as much of it as he could see. He says his most vivid memories come from the time he was assigned to the World Trade Center after the attacks on September 11. Rod has been a farmer, diesel mechanic, EMT, firefighter, and physician assistant. He was taught growing up how to build, wire, and plumb a house, licensed to drive a tractor trailer, He has been described a “jack of all trades” and possibly “master of none”. Maybe this is where Rod draws from as a songwriter. Rod got his first guitar at age five. His musical heroes are Johnny Cash and Elvis. His influences range from classic country artists like Marty Robbins and Conway Twitty to southern rock legends like CCR and Skynrd and everyone in between. He is often compared to Alan Jackson and Josh Turner but prefers to think he has a sound all his own. Rod recently moved to Nashville to pursue his passion in music. He has just completed his Livin In the USA album. This is Rod's finest work so far. He wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the album. The first single, "You Don't Know Jack" goes to radio Feb 13, 2012!!! Be sure to ask for it. After four years active duty in the Army, Rod remained in the Army Reserve and National Guard for the remainder of his military career. He has competed on the US National Guard International Combat Shooting Team as well as the New York State National Guard Shooting Teams. He enjoys shooting, hunting, and fishing. Rod says that his wife Betty is the heart and soul of his music. She has been his manager for five years. He says the partnership they have is the key to his success. He has one son, Arthur, who has also been a tremendous source of inspiration and motivation for him both in writing and performing. Rod’s debut album: Star In The Window was released May 17, 2009 on the Red White and Blue Records label. Rod has dedicated the album to The American Gold Star Mothers and is donating a portion of the proceeds to them. The new album "Livin In the USA" is also dedicated to the American Gold Star Mothers and part of the proceeds will be donated to them. |
