Back in 2004, in the heart of the Bar Row district outside of Yokota Air Base, five Americans formed Mercury Descends. What originally started as a social get-together for improvised jams at the Chicken Shack Live House quickly developed into a very serious musical endeavor. With two pilots, and air traffic controller, a maintainer, and a communications specialist comprising the line up, Mercury Descends began playing frequent shows in the local Tokyo area and at the E-club on base. Although PCS moves and deployments challenged our progress, we bonded tight the way military brothers do and stuck through it. In 2007, we wrote, recorded, and released our first full length album, Foreign Protocol, from five different cities around the world. In early 2009, we reconvened in Corpus Christi, TX and began playing shows. Before our drummer deployed to Afghanistan in December 2009, he tracked the drums for our 2010 demo. While he was away, the guys recorded, mixed, and produced the demo that we’ve been sending out to labels. Mercury Descends is our own brand of technical, hard-hitting rock. Collectively, we have nearly a century of musical experience among us with too many influences to list. We’re at full strength once again and rocking South Texas……….Hope to see you at a show!
