Jesse Hammond

Singer/Songwriter/Pop

Jesse Hammond is a singer/songwriter from Lewiston, Maine. Jesse has been singing since he can remember but his true roots to performing started as a teenager when he began singing at local teen events around Lewiston. His constant bellowing got him noticed by some local promoters and before long he was booked for some big shows. At only age 15 Jesse was opening for hip hop and R&B acts Positive K, Mz. Stress, Wise Guys, and Kid and Plays Select Records crew. These shows brought the youngster some notiriety and he was asked to join the Portland hip hop act Gray Soldiers where he helped to start writing some of his first songs and realized an amazing talent for rhyming. Jesse was known by the name Little Jesse or Mess www.myspace.com/mess & www.purevolume.com/mess After numerous shows all over Maine the Gray Soldiers disbanded and Jesse was left fending for himself musically. Jesse was intent upon pursuing music past the realm of the average street rapper or garage band and decided it was time to start studying music. He enrolled in every possible music class school had to offer, from vocal lessons, music theory, advanced music theory, concert choir, jazz choir, jazz appreciation, musical theatre, and any other class that could fill his insattiable appetite for the musical language. Jesse also began playing guitar and piano and his abilitiy to understand music and write songs grew immensely. It was at this time that Jesse met his musical comrades. Stan Dzengelewski and Miguel Barajas. Also students of music, the three set out to start a band called Orginel www.myspace.com/orginel Orginel became the trios every breathing minute, and it was not long before they completed the circle with guitarist Timothy Perrino and drummer Ian Mcdonald. They completed a CD known as Jerkcore which had reasonably excellent success for a high school band and built up quite the following. Orginel eventually grew and had some lineup changes which included Sean Morin and Danny Mckellick and a name change was made. They bacame known as The Cambiata www.myspace.com/cambiata Jesse split from the band and was replaced by the talented Chris Moulton. Cambiata went on to do some amazing things. Jesse was invited to be a part of the growing rock band Redesign and gladly accepted the offer. The band included Guitarist Eric Wright (Beyond the Fall), Bassist Steve Church (Beyond the Fall, Dead Season), and drummer Tony Cortez (Beyond the Fall). Together they completed a self titled E.P. www.myspace.com/redesign Redesign recieved some serious attention from local radio stations WCYY and WTOS and was invited to perform on the WTOS Battle of the Bands. They played shows all over Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachussetts. After some time and no real luck Jesse called it quits and left Maine to get his life together. Jesse found himself in a combat zone in the middle of Iraq away from everyone and everything he ever loved. Jesse would fall asleep to the sounds of Ray LaMontagne, Damien Rice, Glen Hansard, and Amos Lee on his IPOD. That is when he started writing and coming up with the idea for In Love and War, his first solo project, and for the first time he was doing something musically that was real to him. www.myspace.com/jessehammondmusic In Love and War is a brilliant piece of music written and performed by brilliant musicians. From his younger days in Orginel, his rock and roll exploits with Redesign, and his bitter farewell from The Cambiata Jesse Hammond has continued to captivate audiences and listeners with his soulful vocal stylings. In love and War was Jesse's first solo project though, he brought in his friends from The Cambiata to help complete the record in the studio with Jon Wyman at Halo Studios. Including Stan Dzengelewski on bass and keys, Miguel Barajas on electric guitar, and Dan Capaldi on drums. Please share this music with your friends and help this musician get his music heard. Jesse I want to thank you for your services first of all...Secondly I want to say how much I enjoyed your music..Thank you for sharing it..Specialy yor song One Love..This song perfectly describes me and my Boyfriend..We first met when we were 16 and it has been a bumpy road but I have never been ale to picture myself without him. And when he left to go over seas it was all I could do to hold myself together...And this song brought me to tears when I heard it...So thank you..I will be sharing it with him as well..

Love your music, Jesse, great voice. Nice town you're from, Lewiston, Maine. My mom was born and raised in Lewiston. I took her back there for a visit couple of summers ago and I truly enjoyed my stay. Keep up the good work and take care of yourself. God Bless, gilusa
