Hank Cramer is a fulltime traveling folksinger from the Pacific Northwest. He has recorded many CD’s, sound-tracks, and music videos, mostly songs of cowboys, soldiers, and sailors. Hank is also a retired Army soldier, Hank was born at Fort Bragg, NC. His father was a soldier, his mother was a schoolteacher. Hank’s dad, Captain Harry G. Cramer, commanded the first team of “Green Beret” advisers to deploy to Vietnam, and was killed there on October 21, 1957. He was the first US Army soldier to die in the war. Hank’s mother never remarried, but raised her three children as a “single mom”. Hank entered the Army through the ROTC program at the University of Arizona in 1976. He spent the next 28 years in the Army, half of that with the regulars and half with the reserves. Highlights of his active career included duty in Europe with the 7th Signal Brigade; at Fort Carson with the 4th Infantry Division; throughout Asia with the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne); and Central America with Joint Task Force Bravo. As an Army Reservist, Hank commanded a battalion of the 91st Division and a brigade of the 104th Division at Fort Lewis, WA. Hank served in Afghanistan as a senior advisor to the Afghan National Army. He retired in 2004 as a lieutenant colonel. Hank has pursued a successful music career for the last ten years, releasing nineteen CD’s, three music videos, and touring extensively in the US and Canada. His recording of “My Sweet Wyoming Home” was chosen by Heartland Public Radio as one of the Top Five cowboy songs of the year. Other songs have earned similar honors from Texas Public Radio and Northwest Public Radio over the last several years. When not on the road, Hank lives on a ranch in eastern Washington with his wife Kit, daughter Kelsey, and their many critters.
